Resin is the lifeblood of the tree, healing its wounds and inflictions and protecting it against infection. In short, resin repairs, protects, and heals. The oldest known use of plant resin comes from the late Middle Stone Age in Southern Africa where it was used as an adhesive for hafting stone tools.
